JAMES NASON hit an unbeaten 69 as Kenilworth eased to a seven wicket Warwickshire League Premier Division victory over neighbours Warwick on Saturday.
Warwick, having been put in, amassed 182 for 7 in their 50 overs largely thanks to skipped Jamie Coleman who compiled an unbeaten 90 off 131 balls.
Steve Smith 29 was the only other batsman to provide any serious resistance as Gregg Peebles 3-53, Mitch Lowe 2-39 and Tom Kane 1-19 got among the wickets.
In reply, Dave Edmunds struck 47 before fellow opener Nason guided Kenilworth to 183 for 3 with more than eight overs to spare, aided by a rapid 22no off just eight balls from Lowe. Former Kenilworth player James WynnEvans was the only wicket-taker with 3-41.
Kenilworth 2nds suffered a three wicket defeta in a low scoring affair at Walsall YMF.
The visitors struggled to 115 for 8 with Richard Collinson 27, Michael Faulkner 17, Steve Kelley 17 and Jeff Stanners 15 top scoring.
Walsall also found conditions difficult but they took advantage of a few costly dropped catches to edge to 116 for 7. Classy spinner Andy Kennell took 3-22, while paceman Pete Alty claimed 2-36 and colt Phil Edmonds 1-27. Fellow spinner Andy Smith, in his 22nd season in Town colours, achieved a rare milestone when he took his 1,000th wicket for the club.
The 3rds romped to a seven wicket West Midland League Division One victory at seven-man Attock.
The depleted Birmingham hosts were dismissed for just 71 by debutant Chris Beach 2-13, Sam Leach 1-17, Indy Matharu 1-17 and Roger Kelsey 1-24.
Kenilworth scampered to 73 for 3 inside 21 overs as Chris Wallsgrove blasted 26, Colin Goodall 20 and Ed Smith 12no.
